Minimum
Tillage ground preparation means disturbing the soil as little as possible between crops.
After we chop a harvested crop, we use a series of disks to stir up the beds
without disturbing the soil structure below them. |

The first pair of disks
peels the bed open and the second pair throws it closed again. |
Since the
soil stays on the surface, it stays warm and has plenty of oxygen. Microorganisms that
naturally inhabit our soils thrive in this environment and quickly convert the organic
matter to Nitrates. |

This means
we can use less fertilizer when the next crop is planted. Since we avoid soil
sterilants, it also means more natural suppression of some soil
borne pests and diseases. |
