Kites with hawks painted on them scare birds from our fields and hawk boxes help to attract small hawks which prey on birds that eat our seedling crops.

Rotating our vegetables with legumes like peas and beans which fix nitrogen helps reduce the amount of fertilizer we have to apply.  It also helps to break disease and insect pest cycles.

More environmentally sound practices are pictured on our main farm tour page:

Drip Irrigation - Reduces water, fertilizer and pesticide use

Low Tillage - Aids in soil conversion of organic matter to Nitrates; naturally.

Our Lab - Helps us to use a minimum of  fertilizer and pesticide, and to understand the naturally occuring, beneficial aspects of our soil.
